A little glimpse into my daily life

My travel tips to Tofino Canada, Vancouver Island

    Welcome to surfers paradise!

My dearest followers! My first blogpost from Canada, wuhuu.. I have been dreaming of traveling to Canada for SO many years, and now I am finally here and it’s almost hard to get my head around it. I am so very grateful for being able to explore this stunning place on earth with my best friend and partner in crime.

We have arrived in the small British Columbia town of Tofino on Vancouver Island’s west coast. We have both completely fallen in love with this place, it is like a breath of fresh air. Being surrounded by stunning nature and waking up to the sound of the waves – it sure is magical! We have by our friends heard a lot of good things about this place. We didn’t know what to expect, but now after being staying here for the past 4 days, we get why it’s such a popular destination, but still such a hidden gem. It is definitely a place you must add to your wanderlust list!

This place is a surfers dream destination and whilst working round the small charming town you quick get the chilled, surfer vibes. Everyone here is very casual, outdoorsy and you feel like everyone is very acceptive of each other. Everyone fits in, and for outdoorsy people there is so much to do here. You can go kayaking, have a bonfire at the beach, go hiking, go on a bear watching tour, whale tour, go fishing, skating, running, enjoy good food, visit the cute coffee shops and for beginners like me there is multiple of surf schools. AND the list goes on and on! We have had the best time here with some of our best friends and their little 9 months old baby girl.

Here is my list of places worth discovering if you come to Tofino:

    Where to eat in Tofino

Tacofino: My favourite place to eat in Tofino. It is a popular place, and even in the rain people will queue up for their famous tacos. They are some of the best I have ever tried through, if not THE best – so it is definitely worth the wait. There might be que, but it doesn’t take long for them to make it, so be patient. Tacofino is a cool food truck there serves the most delicious homemade tacos and wraps. I especially love their fish tacos and their crispy chicken warp! YUMMY..

Tofino Brewing Company: Our last evening in Tofino Charlie and his lovely wife Milahna wanted to take Fergus and I to the Brewery for pre drinks before our dinner reservation. We never made it here, since the guys got out of the water too late for our dinner reservation, but Charlie and his wife have been there a couple of times, and they love it – so I can highly recommend it!

Tofitian Cafe: Tofitian Cafe was my favourite coffee shop in Tofino. It is small, cosy and makes great coffee, delicious matcha latte and if you like a London Fog – then you have to try one here! They also do small pastries and vegan cakes. It’s located in the cutest area with outdoor seats, near Tacofino and the Chocolate shop.

Chocolate Tofino: If you like chocolate and gelato, then this is the place for you! (Right next door to Tofitian cafe, and also do ice cream)

Rhino coffee house: I went here at least three times doing our short stay. They do super good matcha latte and it’s a popular place if you like donuts (they even do Vegan once.)

Shelter Restaurant: For our last dinner in Tofino we decided to go to Shelter Restaurant. Charlie have been here a couple of times before and loved it, so wanted to take us there for a lovely dinner. It is such lovely restaurant and in the summertime they have outdoor bonfire. I ordered a surfers bowl with wild salmon and veggies. It was delicious! Fergus ordered mussels and fries.

    Tofino’s best beaches

Tofino is no doubt famous for it’s wonderful beaches. Here you can surf, go paddle boarding, have bonfires etc. Even in the rain it’s beautiful! Whether you’re looking to surf, walk, run, picnic, chill, swim, storm watch, or catch sunset, you’ve got 5 gorgeous stretches of beach to choose from.

    My favourites are:

Long beach: Long Beach is exactly as the name suggests…long! Stretching 16km between Ucluelet and Tofino, Long Beach is a must-visit as the landscape is simply breathtaking. We took Frankie with us here and went for a long long walk. It was beautiful, clean, calm, peaceful and no trash or plastic to be seen anywhere.

If you go to Tofino, make sure to go here to have a picnic or build a fire, and make a night of it. They do have crazy weather and powerful tides can apparently flood the beach, so make sure to check that before you come.

Cox Bay: Was one of the guys favourite surf spots. Here you will often find the best waves – if you are a beginner like me, make sure to be careful, because there should be quite a bit of powerful under water stream.

South and North Chesterman Beach: We rented a lovely apartment on South Chesterman Beach, and it was magical. I loved how we every morning woke up by the sound of the waves. This is without doubt my favourite beach, and I had the most amazing run here in the rain from South to North Chesterman and back again. The beach is 2,7 km long and is a great surf spot. The landscape is stunning with the contrast of the flat beach and the mountains in the back.

I loved our time in Tofino, is it truly a charming destination if you look for an active and outdoorsy get-away. Here you can truly relax and breath in there fresh sea air. Its a place I would love to come back to again one day, and feel so grateful that I got to explore such a stunning part of the world.

Thank you so much for reading!
