A little glimpse into my daily life

Since I was a little girl I have always loved everything creative. Art class in school was always my favourite! It was the only class where my mind felt “free” to create and think outside the box. I loved to get my hands dirty and challenge myself.
One day my parents bought me water colours, a canvas and a lovely easel and places it by the window in my parents bedroom. I will never forget how it looked, and how happy and grateful I was. Here I spend hours painting! My mother and I almost daily spend hours together admiring our garden, so since I was a child I have grown a big love for painting flowers, fruits and greenery. It’s like it transports me back in time, and I get the same feelings and emotions of happiness like when I was painting when I was a child.
When quarantine started I told my partners mother how badly I wanted to start painting again. I don’t know why I ever stopped? But I guess you get busy and you take up other hobbies you think and feel at that time are more “important”, and you fill up your day with meetings, work etc.
Fergus mother is an art historian and have been teaching art for many years. She told me she had some water colours and painting paper I could borrow, and since then I haven’t looked back.
I’ve been painting daily for more than 2 weeks now, and I don’t know how I would survive this traumatic and challenging time without my water colours.. I prioritise minimum 1-2 hours of painting a day. It doesn’t matter what time doing the day I paint – as long as I just do it. To bee honest, when I first start painting, I get lost in my own world, and I can easily spend 4 hours or more. It’s my safe place where I get to unfold, be myself and let my mind off.

A few healthy benefits from starting to paint:
I never saw myself as the creative nor talented painting type. But I like to remind myself that it’s not about how beautiful your paintings are, it’s about enjoying it and challenging yourself.
You also only get better and better each time you paint, so it’s just to start and practice. Taking up a hobby like painting isn’t just for the creative types. It’s also proven that The painting can stimulate and nurture creative growth. Give yourself time, and be patient – it’s super healthy for you.
Painting boosts your memory:
Painting boosts memory recollection skills and works to sharpen the mind. I have also read that people who frequently use creative skills such as writing, painting, and drawing have less chance of developing memory loss illnesses as they age.
I love painting because it’s a way to express your feelings and emotions without words. It is a healthy way to release inner thoughts.
Gets rid of stress:
The most important reason to why I feel like you should start or continue to paint is because it helps to releasee anxiety, stress and many other mental health issues. Doing these hard times with Corona and all the bad news we are constantly faced with painting is a great helping tool to feel better.
Stress is a problem everyone deals with to some degree during all stages of life, but at the moment the numbers of people feeling depressed, sad and anxious are higher than ever. Painting and other artistic activities offer an emotional release for all of us dealing with stress or sad feelings doing this time.. Focusing on painting allows our mind’s to relax and let go of all the problems and demands we are faced with at the moment.
Releasing anxiety in the form of painting helps a person unwind and let go of stress and pressure. Low-stress levels lead to a happier, healthier lifestyle and helps improve overall mental health which is why I daily practise exercise, baking, reading, painting or writing since they are all stress relief activities.
I hope I have motivated you to start painting now my angels! It doesn’t take much, and websites like Amazon sell dreamy painting tools and paper, and they also deliver super fast doing these times. I myself paint on A3 thick off white water colour paper, and use the first left water colour palette I have linked to above. It comes with a little pencil that I adore.
